Cookie Policy

1. What Are Cookies
Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device when you visit. They are widely used to make sites function properly, to improve the experience for visitors, and to provide information to the site operator.
Cookies do not contain executable code and cannot install software on your device. They hold small pieces of data — a session identifier, a preference, or a consent record — that the site can read on your next visit.
Sinar Counsel uses cookies in a limited and considered way, consistent with our advisory character. We do not place advertising trackers and we do not share behavioural data with marketing networks.
2. Cookie Types We Use
Essential Cookies
These cookies are required for the basic operation of our website. They handle session continuity, security, and the storage of your own cookie preferences. They cannot be disabled without impairing site function.
- Session management — maintains continuity during your visit
- Security tokens — protects form submissions from cross-site forgery
- Consent record — stores your cookie preference decisions in your browser
Analytics Cookies
These cookies help us understand how visitors engage with our content — which pages are read, how visitors arrive, and where they leave. The data is aggregated and not attributed to identifiable individuals.
- Page view counts and session duration
- Referral source (search, direct, link)
- Device and browser type at an aggregate level
Marketing Cookies
These cookies, if enabled, allow us to understand how our advisory services are being discovered and to measure the performance of any paid content. We do not run retargeting campaigns and do not use these cookies to serve advertisements to you elsewhere.
Preference Cookies
These cookies remember choices you have made — such as display preferences or language settings — so that we do not need to ask again on a subsequent visit.
3. Third-Party Cookies
When analytics tools are enabled, a third-party service (typically Google Analytics) may set its own cookies to collect aggregated usage data. These are subject to the third party's own privacy policy. We have configured these services to anonymise IP addresses and to refrain from sharing data for advertising purposes.
We do not embed social media widgets or advertising network scripts that would set third-party cookies without your knowledge.
4. Cookie Duration
Cookies placed by Sinar Counsel fall into two categories by lifespan:
- Session cookies — exist only while your browser is open and are deleted automatically when you close it. Used for security and session continuity.
- Persistent cookies — remain on your device for a defined period. Our consent record cookie persists for 12 months; analytics cookies typically persist for 13 months before expiring. You can delete these at any time through your browser.
5. Your Cookie Preferences
You may adjust your preferences below at any time. Essential cookies cannot be disabled. Changes take effect immediately and are stored in your browser.

7. Your Rights
You have the right to withdraw or adjust consent to non-essential cookies at any time using the preference controls above. Withdrawing consent does not affect any processing that occurred while consent was in place.
You also have the right to request information about the personal data we hold about you, including data collected through cookies. Please refer to our Privacy Policy for a full account of your rights under Malaysian law.
If you have questions about our use of cookies, please write to us at [email protected]. We will respond within 14 days.
