Clarity where
the numbers accumulate

Sinar Counsel works alongside organisations whose reporting has grown faster than the decisions it supports. We examine, order, and advise — without pressure, without noise.

Our Engagements

Three forms of advisory work

Each engagement is designed to be read and used, not merely filed away. The output is a written document that travels further than a meeting ever does.

Reporting Catalogue Conversation

Reporting Catalogue Conversation

A short advisory engagement that examines the full catalogue of reports an organisation has accumulated — dashboards, finance packs, scorecards, and the quiet half-abandoned reports no one has the heart to retire.

  • Written catalogue with reader and decision mapping
  • Retirement, renewal or rehoming recommendations
  • Suited to organisations with accumulated reporting history
BI Platform Advisory

BI Platform Advisory

A longer engagement examining your organisation's options at a platform-renewal moment — continue, consolidate, or compose. We consider team skills, contracted commitments, and the real cost of change.

  • Three considered scenarios in a written platform paper
  • Skills, contracts and change-cost assessment
  • Suited to finance and IT working through platform renewal
Dashboard Practice Workshop

Dashboard Practice Workshop

A two-day workshop on writing a useful operational dashboard — choosing the right metrics, framing them honestly, and designing for the readers who will actually look at it each week.

  • Each participant leaves with a draft dashboard
  • Metric selection, layout and commentary writing
  • Suited to analysts and operational owners
Why Sinar Counsel

A different kind of engagement

Written, not verbal

Every engagement concludes with a written document you can share, file, and return to. The work outlasts the meeting.

Considered, not rushed

We take time to understand the organisation before forming a view. Advisory work that skips this step is rarely worth the paper it is printed on.

Independent perspective

We are not affiliated with any BI platform vendor. Our platform advisory is shaped by your organisation's circumstances, not by software commission.

Practitioner-led

The consultants who conduct your engagement are the same people who have done this work in organisations, not junior researchers working from a template.

Malaysia-contextual

We understand the particular reporting environment of Malaysian organisations — the mix of platforms, the budget cycles, and the regulatory context that shapes data practice here.

Fixed, transparent pricing

Each engagement is priced clearly before we begin. There are no variable day-rates or scope creep. You know what you are committing to.

Take the next step

Is your reporting working as hard as your people?

Most organisations carry more reports than they need, and fewer decisions are made from them than the effort invested deserves. A short conversation often clarifies a great deal.

Frequently Asked

Questions worth addressing

What kind of organisation is Sinar Counsel suited to?

We work best with established Malaysian organisations — typically with a finance, IT or operations function — whose data and reporting practice has developed over years and now requires an independent review. We are not the right fit for early-stage businesses building their first reports.

How long does a typical engagement take?

The Reporting Catalogue Conversation runs over two to three weeks, depending on the volume of reports reviewed. The BI Platform Advisory typically spans four to six weeks. The Dashboard Practice Workshop is two full days, with preparation material sent in advance.

Do you work remotely or on-site in Kuala Lumpur?

Both. Catalogue and platform advisory work can be conducted with a combination of remote interviews and document review. The Dashboard Practice Workshop is normally conducted in person at your premises or a venue of your choosing in Kuala Lumpur. We can discuss arrangements that suit your team.

What does the written output look like?

We write for readers, not for committees. Outputs are structured documents written in plain language — not decks with bullet points but papers that can be read from beginning to end and then passed to a colleague. Length varies by engagement, but we aim for thoroughness without padding.

Is the pricing fixed regardless of organisation size?

The listed prices are standard starting points. Very large organisations with unusually complex reporting environments may require a scoping conversation before we confirm a price. For most mid-market Malaysian organisations, the listed prices apply.

How do we begin?

Send us a brief note through the contact form below, or call our office. We typically respond within one business day. The first conversation is a short exchange to understand your situation and whether we are the right fit — there is no obligation attached to it.
